About Saving Kauai's Seabirds DocumentaryIn Saving Kauai's Seabirds, we follow the teams working together to save Kauai's Newell's Shearwaters and Hawaiian Petrels from extinction. The 2018 translocation was the third year of translocating chicks from their mountain burrows, by helicopter, to the safety of the Nihoku predator proof enclosure. The Pacific Rim Conservation team feeds and cares for the chicks, until they are ready to fledge to sea. We plan to follow up in 2019 and hope to see the seabirds returning from their years at sea.
